Pakistan Announce Women’s ODI World Cup Squad, Fatima Sana to Lead

Lahore, August 24, 2025 — The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, with Fatima Sana named captain. The tournament begins on September 30, and Pakistan will play a preparatory three-match ODI series against South Africa at home starting September 16.

Eyman Fatima Gets Maiden ODI Call-Up

One of the biggest surprises in the squad is the inclusion of 20-year-old uncapped batter Eyman Fatima. She replaces Gull Feroza and Najiha Alvi, both of whom have been left out of the main squad but are among the five non-travelling reserves.

Eyman made her T20I debut earlier this month against Ireland in Dublin and showed promise, scoring 23 and 4 runs in two innings. Her selection adds fresh energy to Pakistan’s top-order batting lineup.

Sadaf Shamas Returns, Sana to Lead First World Cup

Sadaf Shamas, the experienced top-order batter, makes a comeback to strengthen Pakistan’s batting. Meanwhile, Fatima Sana, one of the country’s rising stars, will captain Pakistan for the first time in an ODI World Cup.

Sana had also led the side during the World Cup qualifiers in Lahore earlier this year and will now look to inspire her team on the global stage.

Pre-Tournament Preparations

Before the World Cup, Pakistan will host South Africa for a three-match ODI series in Lahore, starting September 16.

  • 14-day training camp begins August 29 under head coach Muhammad Wasim

  • South Africa arrives in Lahore on September 12

  • Series matches act as final preparation before the mega event

  • All seven league matches will be played in Colombo

  • The second semi-final will be held in Navi Mumbai
